So I have done just that, I have collected another great group of website designs that do not have a stereotypical “web 2.0″ design, and also are not for a design group (Except 31Three, but they even say their audience is developers not designers).

Part of the reason we started Only Human was the phrase “I made the mistake of” and “I learned a hard lesson from”. Try people watching or just sitting and chatting with your friends one day and you’ll realize how prevalent it is. Sharing your own life experiences gone awry is probably one of the most natural ways of teaching other people. It evokes instant empathy and draws people in for a stronger connection because you’re not orating and bragging about achievements – you’re telling them consequences of said actions.

Written by comedians and musicians such as Ben Karlin, Andy Richter, Stephen Colbert, Nick Hornby, and Dan Savage, Things I’ve Learned From Women Who’ve Dumped Me is collection of relationship horror stories by guys who’ve made some relatively big mistakes in their past relationships. Often times funny, but always sincere, the stories are a great way to teach other people about things to watch out for and not to do when going through a serious relationship. We got the great news from Shawn O’Keefe last Thursday that Only Human was selected as a finalist for the SXSW Web Awards in the Education Category. Its always great to get some kind of peer recognition for hard work and we really appreciate the honor. So it looks we’ll be heading to Austin, Texas to celebrate, win or no win.
