So what is the next step…

So we launched our site in its bare-bones “get-the-concept-across-first” form and things have been going great. People seem to really like the site and our page views and visits are rising steadily as the word gets out. But we’re not satisfied, not by a long shot.

So after reviewing a lot of feedback and criticisms, we took the time to really think about what are the next steps to making Only Human an even better experience.

Here’s a little list of what’s coming up for the site:

1. Better sorting and organization of stories

We’re bringing you better ways of finding the best content on the site faster. Sorting by most lessons learned, most commented, and by different time constraints.

2. Relating your story to someone else’s story

For instance say i’m reading someone’s story. Uhmm…let’s go with this one about seeing the girl of your dreams and not approaching her. A common response is “Oh I’ve done that before too…”, or “I got you one better, there was this one time…”. You want to be able to share your similar story instinctively.

Now for a real world example. Take a second to watch the next time when you and your friends are at the bar and observe how conversations flow. Watch how they share stories about “what they did that day”, or “remember that one time when…”. You’ll notice the way people chime in with their own similar experiences and stories.

That’s the type of social interactions we’re trying to bring to the community and we really think this feature will help address that natural need.

3. RSS Feeds

The vast majority of people do not know what an RSS Feed is. Your uncle, dad, mom, aunt, dog, brother, sister and any one who isn’t strapped to a computer 24/7 probably has no clue what that orange icon with three waves means at all. And more importantly, they couldn’t care less.

But, for the web savvy and majority of bloggers out there who like the site, this seems be a crucial feature. So this one goes out to you guys for all the support and coverage. We’d send you candy or a fruit basket but instead we bring you RSS feeds.

Delicious. RSS. Feeds.

Stay Tuned

We’ve got big plans for the future of this site and we’re adding more new and exciting ways to share your stories and learn from others. So keep checking back, it only gets better from here.
