Gifter.org
I found this site called gifter.org where you sponsor people’s wishes or donate to a charity of your choice. I think the big idea behind it is that if gifter.org gets enough exsposure on the web, in turn, charities and people in need will get more money than traditional methods.
Seems like a great idea, and I hope the project takes off. You basically take your donation, post it on your site with the gifter.org tag and that’s all you need to do to help.
We decided to contribute to the James Kim Memorial Fund. James Kim was a great correspondant on Tech TV way back when and cnet.com. Seemed like a really nice guy and like the whole tech community, we felt bad about what happened and wanted to help his family.

What an excellent choice for your donation. Like so many others I watched that story unfold and come to its tragic end while wishing I could do something - anything - to help.
Gifter is offering a wonderful service by encouraging people to donate to charities that they might otherwise think about in passing but never get around to contacting.
If you’d like to reward yourself, or maybe earn another $10k to donate to the charitable enterprise of your choice, visit the Robinhood Fund (www.robinhoodfund.com) and enter a wish. The community will choose both a needy and a greedy winner on January 15.

Ben’s site is a great initiative. It’s nice of you to support James’ family, btw.
